Global Tyranny...Step by Step: The United Nations and the Emerging New World Order
Published in Paperback by American Opinion Books (01 November, 1992)
Authors: William F. Jasper, John F. McManus, and Thomas G. Gow
Average review score:

Should be mandatory reading for all Americans
This book will surprise you with its revelations, such as - what do the current and all previous UN Secretary-Generals have in common? All are/were socialists or Marxists (without exception). Here's the straight scoop folks: the UN Charter and the US Constitution are incompatible with each other. Something is going to give. The main difference, as the book points out, is the source of 'rights'. Our Constitution recognizes and protects 'God given' rights. With the UN, rights are not absolute, and subject to any number of provisos. Get this book, read it (it's not too long), and encourage your friends/family to read it too. We needed to get out of the UN 'yesterday'.

GET US OUT OF THE UN!
After reading this book, I have become encouraged to reach out and educate people of the dangers of the United Nations. Please do likewise!

I was sick for one week after reading this enlightening book
People in USA and Europe must read this book and start a people movement to stop the madness. Luckily Norway is still out of the European Union, against the "Quisling" ,former Norwegian prime minister: Gro Harlem Brundtland. She is now head of the UN WHO ! Watch out all free and healthy people of the world!

We Borrow the Earth : An Intimate Portrait of the Gypsy Shamanic Tradition and Culture

Authors: Patrick Lee and Patrick Jasper Lee

We Borrow the Earth...A Rom Gypsy story
Jasper's intimate expose of family lifeand history of the mysterious Tacho Drom..the Way...is music to my ears andeyes. I truly was enchanted and couldfeel the people in their journey fromIndia and the thousands of miles andyears that led them to North Wales. For me this book was healing and beingwhat he calls the diddiker, one quarterGypsy, made sense. The courage it tookto go public, and make a book availablethat the Gypsies and Gaujo world canparticipate with the fairy tales of ourIndo-European childhoods...is a greatconnecting link in a pluralistic society, here racism is a political wayof creating hatred and fear. Jasperdeals kindly with all aspects of religion and spiritual practices of theindigenous tribal people. There areeleven million gypsies of the Rom whobelong to the Romany Union, worldwide.I wish they knew about this book.Suzette Lynn Price...aka Sophia Mubarak

Must-read for gypsy and shamanic interests
Fascinating, warts-and-all first-person account of Gypsy life and traditions. His experiences are rich and his meditation suggestions make the Otherworld far more accessible than most books related to "magickal" studies. In this respect, it's a breakthrough book for shamanic explorations. However, even if you're simply interested in the context of Gypsy life, this can be a tremendously insightful book.

Believe in the reality of your imagination!
The Romani drom (path) calls individuals to believe in themselves and their imaginations. Not a book of initiations or techniques or an anthropological report of a tribe's practices, "We Borrow the Earth" vividly depicts key concepts and experiences in the development of an indigenous Romani Chovihano (shaman) as well as many examples from his students' own journeys to self-discovery. Through a gradual, grounded, earth-based process students of this path face challenges with the aid of fairy tale characters and structures familiar from childhood. Sleeping Beauty, Jack, ogres, castles - the characters and places which populate these journeys resonate with the ancient blood memory of those with Indo-European roots. Through these journeys, exercising our wits and senses, the students can find within what was always there - the courage, honesty, trust, and confidence to deal with the problems and opportunities in their everyday lives. We can learn to believe in ourselves again, as we did when we were children. If you read this book and if your heart is open, I believe you will find a magic key, an ancient memory. And you will find yourself longing to return to your 'wild,' natural and joyous self.

Writing and publishing this book required courage, honesty, and trust in the guidance of his Ancestors for Jasper Lee faced opposition and obstacles to sharing the Romani inner world. Having found the book even more enriching on a second reading, I thank him for facing these obstacles and not allowing his culture to be lost.

Alberta and the Northwest Territories Handbook: Including Banff, Jasper, and the Canadian Rockies (Moon Travel Handbooks)
Published in Paperback by Moon Travel Handbooks (May, 1997)
Authors: Nadina Purdon and Andrew Hempstead
Average review score:

Comprehensive and up to date
This book was indispensible for my recent travels through Alberta. It contains detailed descriptions of all the best places to go, including some great small town festivals that I would of otherwise missed. The book also has many hikes included, mostly in the Canadian Rockies. I budgeted to spend around $50 a night for motels, and found that this book described many good choices in this price range but also includes campgrounds and more expensive places. Overall, I found it to be very current, not only for restaurants and the like but also coverage of issues such as overcrowding in the national parks, which I found an interesting addition.

5 Stars Plus!
This book and its companion volume to British Columbia are undoubtedly the best travel books I have ever used. I just returned from a two-month trip that took me to the Calgary Stampede, through the Rockies, up to Yellowknife and through British Columbia to Vancouver. Alberta is an amazing place to visit and by buying this book I was able to enjoy it all the more. The author has obviously done his homework and describes the region in a colorful style but also with an incredible amount of detail. By using these books I managed to plan my trip before leaving home, even down to where I wanted to eat. The other guide I had with me was rarely used. I also found local information centers sending me along well worn tourist paths, and while this book covers all of that side of Alberta it also led me away from the masses to areas of equal beauty. I highly recommend this book to anyone planning a trip to Canada!!

Don't travel without it!
This was an excellent guide for family travel. It provided first rate information on dinosaur adventures in the Red Deer region to Waterton NP to the Canadian Rockies including Banff and Jasper and all points in between. Includes tidbits of local history and written in such a user friendly manner that by the middle of our three week adventure we were fondly refering to it as Mr. Moon, as in, what does Mr. Moon reccommend for dinner. If you are traveling to the Canadian Rockies, the British Colombia guide by this publisher makes an indispensable companion to the Alberta Guide.

Jasper

Average review score:

Some Cat!
A psychic cat and a naive owl make unlikely sidekicks in this engaging story by exciting new voice, Michelle Groce. What begins as a stray's search for a home quickly becomes complicated by an obstacle course of moral dilemmas. Although billed as young adult fiction "old" adults will definitely enjoy this thoughtful read. I am WAY over 21 and I loved Jasper.

From the perspective of a cat with a conscience!
Jasper is a debut novel by Michelle Groce and written for young adults. Jasper is an extraordinary cat with the ability to see glimpses of the future. This quirky feline searches for a good home, a warm bed, tasty food, and a family to love him - yet he senses dreadful events to come, and trapped as an indoor pet, there is nothing he can do about it. Jasper is a very highly recommended story of coming to grips with tough choices, moral dilemmas, -- from the perspective of a cat with a conscience!

Jaspar
I thoroughly enjoyed every word of Jaspar and liked very much the art work included. This book gave me a completely new appreciation for cats, owls and dogs. The author made me feel like I was there with Jaspar and feeling all the feelings he was experiencing. Great book....hope there will be more by this author.

Moon Handbooks Canadian Rockies, Second Edition: Including Banff and Jasper National Parks
Published in Paperback by Avalon Travel Publishing (10 May, 2001)
Author: Andrew Hempstead
Average review score:

Good foundation handbook to have for the Northern Rockies
I would augment it with another guidebook to balance reviews and recommendations. Moon Handbooks are great for the traveler on a "middle class" budget and will guide you to the "must sees" without the extra confusing fluff that other guidebooks include.

An excellent resource
Not really a review, but a definite This Is a Great Book. I'd never heard of Moon Handbooks, but purchased this guide through Amazon and found it helped immensely on recent trip to Canada. Everything was included and the detailed recommendations covered everything from hiking to where to eat. If you're heading to the Canadian Rockies, buying this book is money well spent.

An excellent source of information
This book was invaluable for our Spring 2001 trip through the Canadian Rockies. The book is obviously written with the aim of appealing to a wide range of travelers, and does so well. My wife and I have very different interests, but found that each evening we would sit down and study the next day's itinerary almost solely using this book--her searching out museums and a picking a spot to eat dinner and me looking for outdoor activities. As a retired historian, I was also pleased to see comprehensive coverage of the history of the region, along with dozens of interesting tidbits that helped make the trip more enjoyable. It was too early in the season for us to do much hiking, but the trails we did follow all came from this book and another, Canadian Rockies Trail Guide. I highly recommend this book to anyone traveling north through the Rockies region of our Canadian neighbors.

The Cheetah Chase
Published in Hardcover by Ballantine Books (Trd) (August, 1994)
Authors: Karin McQuillan and Paul G. Irwin
Average review score:

My kind of adventure
After finishing Karin McQuillan's first two books, Deadly Safari and Elephant's Graveyard, I couldn't wait to pick up Cheetah Chase. I was not disappointed by this third Jazz Jasper novel at all. It continued to develop the heroine's character, her relationships and her adventures in the African Jungle. McQuillan has a way of weaving her plots through a story that teaches as well as excites. I eagerly await more from her.

More than a good mystery
Africa is about the last place that comes to mind when I think of a mystery novel, which made this book all the more fresh and interesting. The cultural diversity of the characters and the wonderful integration of wildlife into the story were added bonuses. I will definitely read other books by Ms. McQuillan. Highly recommended.

an exciting, amazing, mysterious, thrilling adventure.
This is a thrilling adventure that will take you all the way to africa, where you will experience fear, mystery, and even romance. It will stick you to your seat, you won't be able to put it down

Discovering Fossils: How to Find and Identify Remains of the Prehistoric Past
Published in Paperback by Stackpole Books (June, 2003)
Authors: Frank A. Garcia, Donald S. Miller, and Jasper Burns
Average review score:

Great book about fossils
This book has very accurate illustrations. It is very helpful for people who are interested in fossils, and everything that has to do with collecting them. It is easy to understand, and interesting to read over and over.

Best Fossil Reference Book, Ever
Frank Garcia pierces the veil of paleontology and brings you right down to the surface of your own dig.

This book is the best fossil reference book for the casual collector as well as a great addition to any science or teacher's library where geology and-or paleontology are included.

Written in a very down-to-earth style, the book walks you step-by-step through the basics of why fossils exist, where you will find them, how to properly (and safely) collect them and what to do when you get them home or back to the classroom.

Any family that includes fossil-hunting in their vacation, home-school or travel plans should pack this book along for the added benefit of the wide range of fossils identified within.

Any teacher who brings students to potential fossil or geology sites on field trips should include readings from this book BEFORE heading out as well as keeping it handy while in the field.

There's enough packed into this book that every school library science section should include this volume if budgets restrict purchases.

It's a great gift for the budding fossil collector and an excellent addition to a serious collector's library.

The soft, but protected cover, makes it safe to handle in the field.

Take my advice - purchase two: one for the field and one for the desk or prep table.

Great guide to get you started in fossil collecting
A very good guide book to get started in collecting fossils. Great advice on equipment, locations and methods for collecting. The illustrations of typical specimens are extremely helpful in identifying finds. Mr Garcia writes with a great wit and a genuine love of science. His matter of fact story telling coupled with the excitement of discovery makes it obvious that to him, science is a verb.

Nimby
I bought this book in San Francisco and read it to my children for years. I wanted to purchase a new book as a gift for a friend's grandchild and am disappointed that it is not available new. It is such a great story about accepting yourself, a must read for parents and children.

Tomkins has exceptional skill
I am sorry to see that Jasper Tomkins does not have any books to purchase, I hope they print another edition soon.

I can remembering meeting the author at a Young Authors convention 15 years ago and being impressed with books like Nimby and the Catalog.

I hope that we see more of his books in print soon.

Nimby
I agree that the publisher needs to get the presses rolling again. I am 52 years old and I still love this book. I was crushed when I came to buy a copy for a friend's child and I could not get one.

Take Back Your Time: How to Regain Control of Work, Information, and Technology
Published in Paperback by Griffin Trade Paperback (06 October, 1999)
Author: Jan Jasper
Average review score:

Alex Lubarsky
I think that it is very funny that our lives have become so complicated that we need a book to teach us how to simplify it, but need it we do. Jan Jasper has put together what seemed like a million simple ideas on how to get through all the stuff that screems for our attention. To accomplish more, to enjoy our life more, to do the things that are important to us, we must purge all the time wasters. "Take back your time" gave me a view from a different angle so that I can make a choice on what to keep and what to purge. I am glad I bought it! P.S. For me "Think and grow rich", How to win friends, and influence people", The majic of thinking Big" are five star books. "Take back your time" is a strong four.

A splendid, extremely useful book
Take Back Your Time is the kind of book that everyone on the planet should read. We're all running around like maniacs most of the time, desperate to get an endless amount of mostly useless things accomplished. Jasper tells how to separate the wheat from the chaff and focus on what's really important. Her suggestions are sensible, intelligent, creative. My husband and I have both read the book and are now trying to apply all the helpful ideas to our lives.

Work With Technology Instead of Against It
Ms. Jasper presents excellent advice on how to use computers, software, personal digital assistants, and cell phones to better organize your life and overall provides very helpful suggestions for introducing sanity into what is for most of us a life in overdrive. This is a time management book that is relevant to the real world today, and has many effective techniques to get us where we want to go.

Fossil Collecting in the Mid-Atlantic States: With Localities, Collecting Tips, and Illustrations of More Than 450 Fossil Specimens
Published in Paperback by Johns Hopkins Univ Pr (May, 1991)
Author: Jasper Burns
Average review score:

One great discovery pointed to hundreds more.
Before leaving Germany for my next job at Langley Air Force Base, VA, I discovered Jasper Burns' book and ordered it from Amazon.com (THE Bookstore that linked us to home while away and connects us to the world now that we are back). Suffice it to say, I was biting at the bit to see if Mr. Burns' words would bear fruit, or more importantly, fossils. In short, his location directions and pictures of fossils to be found there were spot on. If they were listed in the book, I have found and added them to my collection i.e sharks teeth (some as large as 6 inches),whale vertebrae, shells, etc... An excellent guide and reference! If you live on or plan to visit the Mid Atlantic Coast and enjoy spending time searching and finding fossils, this is THE book to own. Thank you Mr. Burns and thank you Amazon.

Great Tips--But Be Sensitive to Overcollection
One of the few books that reveals actual fossil hunting locations--for good reason. Because of frequent visiting, some of these sites have experienced overcollecting or damage to the natural surroundings (undermining rock faces, etc.). If visiting, please be sensitive to the environment and the site's neighbors. Best to stick to quarries or big highway cuts, where environmental impact is not a factor. These happened to be more productive fossil-wise than the more scenic locations, anyway, so everyone wins!

Illustrations are great guides
This book was helpful for me because of the life-like illustrations. While I have only visited one site discussed by the author, his drawings have been a great comparison point against the typical fossil guides' pictures.

The author's interest in his hobby is contagious - I recommend you read the book and share his passion.
